  7. "UP ON THE ROOF" SONGS FROM THE BRILL BUILDING

  12.      "Nostalgic", best describes Neil Diamond's salute to the song
  13. writers he starved with in the late 1950s and '60s.  For those of
  14. us who are old enough to remember, the sounds on this CD will
  15. prompt warm memories.  There are no original works recorded here,
  16. as the artist states that this album is a salute to those who
  17. pushed and inspired him in his youth.
  18.      For those "die hard" Diamond fans, you will find this CD in
  19. his usually style of being fully orchestrated, and well done at
  20. that. The CD definitely has a sing along appeal.
  21.      However, for those who loved the writer more than the singer,
  22. there is little offering here.  Diamond is simply the singer on
  23. this album.  Since there are none of his own works, the flavor and
  24. feeling that usually permeates his work is lost.
  25.      For the most part, this CD is pleasant listening, but don't
  26. get a ticket running to get a copy.  Wait till the price falls a
  27. little.
